Beyond the Veil wiki

So, you’ve decided to help me with the wiki. Good for you! I’ll love you forever…or at least a week. I’ve created this page to answer some of those ever complicated wiki questions for everyone, so please have a look below and see how to do some stuff.

I want to…

Add a category.
[]

At the very bottom of a page, you’ll find this:

Category

You click on the ‘add category’ button and then the box will extend. You’ll be able to type in any category you need to, just make sure you don’t have any typos. You can see what categories we currently have on the wiki in the Character Categories page. [link]

Remove a category.
[]

Depending on if that page has the new wiki format or not is how you’ll do this. If it is the new one, click the ‘edit’ button beside the page name and look to the right. You’ll see boxes that says ‘Add features and media’ and beneath that ‘Categories’. (see below)

Category2

To remove a category, roll your mouse over the list and a tiny trashcan item will appear. Just click it! You can also add categories here, but if you are just adding a category, just refer to the above section.

When you’re done, select ‘publish’.

Update my character.
[]

Firstly, make sure you tell the admin that you’re doing this so that everything everywhere is up to date. Once you’ve done that, go to that character page and click ‘edit’ beside their name. This takes you to the same edit page from the second bullet, where you can edit the page in its entirety. Assuming that you already have the information typed up in word (and really you should in case something happens), then open Notepad (Located in Accessories in your start menu). If you have a Mac, you should be able to find it by searching your applications.

This is essential for you to do. If you fail to use notepad, bad things happen. You’ll copy and paste directly from word onto the wiki then next thing you know, your head is going to spin around while spewing pea soup. Okay just kidding, but seriously, use notepad. It really cuts down on all the hidden mumbo-jumbo of word and makes life a little easier when you paste your changes into the appropriate section on the page. If you’re still having trouble, just get in touch with the GM. I’ve worked out most of the kinks with it through hours upon hours of trial and error.

When you’re finished with all this, hit ‘publish’ to the right.
